Linux: How to kill and logout users

Task: How to halt/stop a user

# skill -STOP -u <user>

You muse be root to stop other users. For debian/ubuntu you should precede this command with sudo.

Task: How to resume already halted user

# skill -CONT -u <user>

Task: How to kill and logout user

# skill -KILL -u <userid>

Task: Kill and logout all users

The ultimate command to kill and logout all users:
# skill -KILL -v /dev/pts/*
